Current/OS is an open, non-profit partnership of electricity stakeholders and manufacturers defining standards for Direct Current (DC) electrical systems in buildings, data centers and infrastructure.
NMi tests and certifies smart meters, EV charging equipment, batteries, single loads and other connected electrification hardware against the metrology, EMC, cybersecurity and interoperability requirements that Current/OS listing depends on.
Requests are submitted and tracked through the Current/OS Certification Scheme. NMi manages scoping, testing and certificate issuance from there.

— FAQ
Certification, in plain terms.
What is Current/OS certification?
The process by which electrification devices, such as smart meters, EV charging equipment, batteries and single loads, are independently tested and verified before being listed as compliant within the Current/OS ecosystem.
Who is NMi and why does it certify Current/OS devices?
NMi is an independent certification body within NMi Group, an international ATICC organisation, designated for the Current/OS certification scheme. NMi carries out metrology, EMC, cybersecurity and interoperability testing for electrification devices, including those seeking certification within the Current/OS ecosystem.
How does a manufacturer start the certification process?
By starting the application through Current/OS. NMi then confirms scope, agrees a test plan, and carries out testing at an accredited facility before issuing a certificate.
Is NMi designated for this scope?
NMi is designated for this scope. NMi is a partner within the Current/OS scheme, a testing level authority for Current/OS, and participates in the scheme's execution committee.
